In our Divi Thursday blog last week, we talked about the pros and cons of using Divi Theme on our WordPress sites. Now if you have decided to use Divi Theme or are already using it, the next step is to customize it. Divi Theme already has a built-in page builder in which we can customize the pages and posts on our site to however we want it to look like without the need to code. This can help you achieve your vision for your website. But for the more advanced users, you can further enhance the Divi theme experience by adding more custom CSS and code.
If you are just a beginner in adding custom style, you might want to look into guides on how to apply these custom styles to your site, or more specifically, to a site that is using Divi Theme. So for this month, the site that we will put in the spotlight for our Divi resource is the Divi Soup site.
The Divi Soup site is an excellent resource, since it does not only offer tips and tricks, but it also is a source of child themes and layouts. For anyone who wants to master Divi Theme customization, the Divi Soup site will help you reach that goal.
The Divi Soup has what they call recipes, which are the tutorials. Like following a recipe for cooking your favorite dinner, following their tutorials is very easy since the recipe also includes the ingredients or the things that you will need to create something out of Divi. The recipe will even tell you about the cooking time, or the maximum time it will take you to do the customization. For every step, the recipe has a screenshot so that you can be sure you are on the right page and that you are doing the correct changes.
If you are not familiar with CSS, the Divi Soup recipes will also guide you through adding these custom styles. For the beginners in CSS, you can just copy the code that the recipe provides and paste it into the appropriate field. This is also an awesome way to learn CSS since you can experiment with the values that are given in the recipe.
You can find all the different kinds of recipes in what they call the Kitchen. In the Kitchen, you can see three categories for the recipes: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced, so depending on where you are in your Divi customization journey, there is sure to be a recipe that you can follow and apply on your site.
